About St John's Prep

Mission & Purpose

St. John’s Prep and Senior School, Enfield Potters Bar is a co-educational school set across two sites, a mile apart, at the borders of Enfield/Middlesex and Potters Bar. Our school motto Res ispa loquitur means, ‘The facts speak for themselves’, and we try to instil this into our pupils.

St. John’s Prep School, in Potters Bar, is where our pupils between the ages of 4 to 11 years study.  We offer an array of subjects culminating in SATs Exams in Maths, Science and English at both KS1 and KS2.

Pupils also participate in a number of sports including Cricket, Football, Netball, Rounders & Tennis and they also have the opportunity to take part in a variety of educational trips abroad such as a choir trip to Rome or a ski trip to Morzine/France.

Our greatest assets

St. John’s Senior School, located in Enfield, is attended by our more senior students, 11-18 year olds.  While at the Senior School, they study for their GCSEs and A Level exams, which will equip them with the skills they will need to become accomplished adults.

Although St. John’s Prep and Senior School has made its reputation as an academic school, pupils at the Senior School have the opportunity to further develop themselves in our sports clubs. Pupils are offered up to 33 sports during their school life at St. John’s.  They are also offered trips abroad to Spain, Iceland, Greece, Madrid, Berlin, Paris and Morocco.

St. John’s with its history of academic excellence was awarded an ‘Outstanding’ grade in its latest Ofsted Inspection (2012) and we were ranked 35th in the Telegraph League Tables for Top Independent schools, (January 2014).

St. John’s Prep and Senior School has also been named in both the Telegraph’s Top 100 schools and the Guardian’s Top 200 Schools.
