20th October, 2016.

Dear Parents,

Cake Making Day – Monday, 7th November 2016.

Every academic year, the students at St. John’s Senior School are given the opportunity to practise their culinary and creativity skills, whilst also encouraging the spirit of healthy competition. Cake Making Day offers students and teachers the chance to bake the most sensational cakes possible, which will be entered into a competition to win house points. The winning cakes are auctioned off to the highest bidder and the remaining slices sold in order to raise money for charity.  The cakes should be designed, baked and decorated for this occasion, on Monday 7th November.

This year this exciting competition will have a theme relating to Autumn, in tribute to the current season. The students are invited to explore unique design ideas and will be judged on presentation and originality. Nonetheless, if decorating is not their forte, the students can focus on baking a truly delicious cake, as taste is just as important as appearance!

On the day, the students will need to bring their cakes into school in tins or plastic Tupperware, which they will need to retrieve after they have presented their cakes in the dining hall, in the morning. You may also wish to provide pocket money for them to buy a slice of cake at the sale, or even encourage them to bid for one of the sensational winning cakes at an auction expertly run by 6th Form students and staff.

We are very much looking forward to this exciting day and hope the students will enjoy it as well. If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact me at the school.

Yours faithfully,

C. Hall (Miss)
