Letter of invitation to Remembrance Service Friday 8th November.
I am writing to inform you of our Remembrance Service on Friday 8th November which will take place at St. Mary’s Church Potters Bar EN6 1QN. The assembly will include opening prayers and a blessing from our school priest Fr. Stefan.
Pupils will, therefore, need to be taken directly to the church by 8:30 a.m. to allow for them to be seated and warm up before the service starts at 9:00 a.m. However, if this causes any problems, please let Mrs. Ferry know so that arrangements can be made for any pupils to be brought to the church from the senior school, if necessary. Traffic in and around the church can be very congested so please take this into account for journey times. Please follow the “drop and go” method. Students will then be taken back to school by coach for normal lessons. Pupils travelling to school via the minibus service will be taken directly to the church.
Parents are more than welcome to join us at the assembly to commemorate the sacrifice made by military personnel of ages past and present. The Service is compulsory for all students. Students must attend in full school uniform and wear a poppy. We pride ourselves as a school that we have 100% of students wearing their poppies at Remembrance.
I am pleased to announce that this year we will be supporting the charity Help for Heroes which provide care for veterans including; mental health support, and physiotherapy. At the end of the assembly there will be a retiring collection where I hope every student will be able to give a donation so that we do the school proud by supporting this charity’s important work.
