Re: Easter Assembly – Thursday, 17th March 2016
On Thursday, 17th March, we are holding our Easter Assembly (as we do every year) for both the Senior and Preparatory School, at St. Mary’s Church, The Walk, (off Darkes Lane) Potters Bar, Herts EN6 1QN.
Pupils will, therefore, need to be taken directly to the church between 8.15 a.m. – 8.50 a.m. rather than being brought to the school. However, if this causes any problems, please let Mrs. Ferry or Mrs. Brown know by Tuesday, 15th March, so that arrangements can be made for any pupils to be brought from the senior school, if necessary. Coaches have been hired to bring pupils back to school at 10.15 a.m.
Due to limited space in the church forecourt, it will be necessary for you to drop children off outside the church. It will be busy given the time of day, so we suggest you use the ‘drop and go’ method please. Members of staff will be on duty to assist in taking children from the cars to the church.
In recent years several children have asked to miss this event on the grounds that they are not Christians. Such an approach would be a pity since no Christian doctrine is forced upon any child. The assembly is important, however, because it informs children about the culture of the country in which they live and why Easter takes place. After all, we all end up getting a holiday out of it so it is logical that all should know the reason.
Please do remember that the following day i.e. Friday, 18th March is the last day of term which ends at 12.45 p.m. Children will need to be collected at this time.
