St. John’s Prep and Senior School Girls’ Tennis Team Serve Up a Spectacular Season Opener
St. John’s Prep and Senior School’s Girls’ Tennis Team kicked off their Middlesex Tennis League campaign in commanding fashion with an impressive 12-0 victory over Mill Hill School. The match, played yesterday under perfect spring skies, saw the St. John’s players showcase a powerful combination of skill, focus, and teamwork.
Representing the team were Iustina, Zara, Dabira, and Maddie, who each competed in both singles and doubles matches. The singles round set the tone for the afternoon, with all four girls delivering decisive wins. Their consistency, court awareness, and mental resilience stood out as they took control of each match from the outset.
Following their singles triumphs, the players paired up for doubles, where they continued to dominate. Their strong communication and strategic play made them a force to be reckoned with, as they secured both doubles victories without dropping a set.
In the Middlesex League format, each match win earns the team two points. With six match wins overall—four singles and two doubles—St. John’s secured a maximum total of 12 points, earning a perfect score for their opening fixture.
This result is not only a testament to the players’ talent but also to the hard work they’ve put in during training. Their teamwork and mutual support were evident throughout the afternoon, making the win a proud moment for the school.
Head of Tennis at St. John’s, Mrs. Katie Henderson, praised the team’s performance: “The girls played with great determination and sportsmanship. This is a fantastic start to the season, and we’re excited to see how they continue to develop.”
Congratulations to Iustina, Zara, Dabira, and Maddie on a superb start to the season. With energy like this, the team is set to be a strong contender in the weeks ahead.
Well done, girls – onward and upward! 🎾
