Celebrating the release of St. John’s Prep and Senior School Language Magazine 2025

St. John’s Prep and Senior School are delighted to announce the release of this year’s highly anticipated Language Department magazine, “A Typical Year at St. John’s School.” Reflecting the school’s vibrant international ethos, the magazine captures a dynamic year filled with language learning, cultural exploration, and meaningful international connections.

Key highlights from the magazine include:

  • Expanding Horizons: The introduction of a Classical Studies programme from Years 3 to 6, encompassing Latin and Classical Greek, enriching pupils’ understanding of ancient languages and cultures.
  • Cultural Festivities: Students enjoyed festive activities such as learning and performing traditional French and Spanish Christmas carols and participating in vibrant workshops like the Spanish Theatre and French Dance sessions.
  • Global Friendships: Continued success with pen-friend letter exchanges with schools in France and Spain, allowing pupils to practise language skills in real-life contexts while building international friendships.
  • International Day: This year’s celebration included engaging presentations and interactive exhibitions on various countries, encouraging pupils to embrace global citizenship and cultural awareness. Special commendations were given to the classes researching Brazil, China, Chile, India, and Kenya.
  • Language Challenges and Competitions: Pupils participated enthusiastically in events like “The Great Spanish and French Language Challenge” and poetry competitions, demonstrating their linguistic creativity and cultural curiosity.
