St. John’s students visit the Frameless Exhibition.
St. John’s Senior School G.C.S.E. art students and the A-Level art and photography students this week had the pleasure of visiting the ‘Frameless’ exhibition and ‘The National Portrait Gallery’ to see the Francis Bacon and Taylor Wessing exhibition.
Francis Bacon: Human Presence (10 October 2024 – 19 January 2025): This exhibition will explore Bacon’s engagement with portraiture through over 100 works spanning his career from the 1950s onwards. It will showcase large-scale paintings and self-portraits, alongside depictions of figures close to him, such as Lucian Freud and George Dyer. The exhibition also reflects Bacon’s challenge to traditional portraiture by merging abstraction and raw emotional depth.
Taylor Wessing Photo Portrait Prize 2024: Running concurrently, this exhibition celebrates contemporary photographic portraiture. It highlights outstanding works from the prize’s finalists, offering insight into modern storytelling and artistic practice through photography.
