St. John’s Senior School Sixth Form Enjoy a Memorable Day at the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race
What a fantastic experience it was for our Sixth Form pupils at St. John’s Senior School as they attended one of Britain’s most iconic sporting events—the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race.
Under bright spring skies and with the River Thames buzzing with energy, our students had the chance to witness this historic rivalry up close. The atmosphere along the banks was electric, and our pupils embraced the tradition and excitement of the day with enthusiasm and maturity.
The Boat Race, steeped in over 190 years of history, saw Cambridge University dominate the waters this year. In an outstanding display of teamwork and athleticism, Cambridge secured victory in all six races, including the Men’s and Women’s Blues races, reserve crews, and the lightweight categories. Their clean sweep was a testament to the intense preparation and dedication of the athletes, and our students were thrilled to witness such high-level competition.
A special mention must go to our Sixth Formers, who represented St. John’s with pride and poise throughout the day. Members of the public and staff alike commented on their exemplary behaviour, respectful conduct, and genuine interest in the event. They were outstanding ambassadors for the school, and we couldn’t be prouder.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Mrs. Zaman, Head of Sixth Form, for organising yet another enriching and memorable outing for our students. These experiences beyond the classroom not only bring learning to life but also help our pupils develop confidence, independence, and a broader understanding of the world around them.
Well done to Cambridge for their resounding victory, and well done to our Sixth Form for making the most of a truly unforgettable day.
